Food Is Health Food Is Life

Native Food and Nutrition Resource Alliance

Native Food and Nutrition Resource Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and building upon the efforts of the National Association of Food Distribution Programs on Indian Reservations. We work to strengthen and secure the USDA-FDPIR food package through decades of advocacy.

Recipes

Eating nutritious food is essential for maintaining overall health and well-being, and NAFDPIR is instrumental in ensuring the USDA commodity food package items play a crucial role in promoting balanced diets, especially for families and individuals facing food insecurity. These packages typically include a variety of foods such as whole grains, canned fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and protein sources like beans and peanut butter, which provide vital nutrients needed for growth, energy, and disease prevention. Access to these nutritious items helps individuals make healthier choices, supports the development of strong bones and muscles, and can improve mental health and cognitive function. By incorporating commodity foods into daily meals, communities can enhance their dietary habits, foster better health outcomes, and ultimately reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
